Early Morning Bird Walk at Plymouth Long Beach! - Friends of Myles Standish

Date

Sunday, May 27, 2018 -
6:30am to 11:00am

We will walk the beach in search of shorebirds and nesting terns and will have closeup view of an active Osprey nest. The endangered Piping Plover nests here and we should see several. In past walks we have identified many as 40 species of birds. Outer Plymouth Beach is designated as one of Massachusetts Important birding areas, with secluded dunes and bluffs. The views of Plymouth Harbor, Saquish, Gurnet Point and Duxbury Bay are awesome.

For those wishing to do the entire walk to the tip of Plymouth Beach, it is 5 miles but will be relaxed and spread out over a few hours. Dress for the elements, and bring along snacks and water.

We will be off the beach by 11:30 so we can continue to meet at the second walk of the day at the Plymouth Airport. Sorry no dogs.
